We are in the festive spirit! Some of us got together for tea, cakes, chats and a little bit of Secret Santa. It’s becoming a bit of a tradition for PhDs to get together just to see each other before everyone heads off for the holidays. All were welcome and it was so good to see those that could make it #secretsanta #naughtyornice #childrensliterature #yalit #crclc #feelingfestive🎄 #phd #phdlife #universityofcambridge

Today's blog post represents a statement from the graduate student community in support of the CRCLC's administrator, Lucian M. Stephenson, who has been informed by the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge that his position is at risk of redundancy. Part of the reason the faculty has given for this decision is the number of PhD students available to do such administrative work for free in return for experience. We in the PhD community believe Lucian to be anything but redundant and would like to take this opportunity to voice our support for Lucian and to inform our wider community that until this matter is resolved all uncompensated graduate student labour undertaken on behalf of the centre, and by extension the faculty, will cease. Today we will be sharing messages of support for Lucian across our social media channels, after which point communications will cease. These channels are student-run and as our labour has been deemed worthless it is being withdrawn. Please read our letter to Faculty below: https ://cambridgechildrenslit.wordpress.com/2019/07/24/in-support-of-our-support-staff/
